What sets PEL Centre apart from other childcare programs?
PEL Centre stands out for its focus on progressive early learning, where emotional intelligence plays a central role in supporting children’s development. We believe that fostering emotional awareness early on helps children manage key transitions and reach important milestones. Our counsellor leads group activities and individual sessions based on the “Heart and Mind” philosophy, which is integral to promoting self-regulation. Our curriculum is play-based, inspired by inquiry-driven learning, Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches.
What food/meals do you provide?
We offer gluten-free breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day. Our menu is carefully designed and prepared fresh in our on-site kitchen by our dedicated in-house chef, ensuring every meal is balanced, nutritious, and made with care. Meal fees are charged separately from childcare fees.
If your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions, we will work with you to tailor the menu to their needs.
Please note that families with infants are required to provide their own formula and bottles. Our educators are happy to assist with preparing formula and bottles as needed.
Please visit our Nutrition section to learn more about our Clear Mind values and how they shape our approach to healthy eating.
Is your environment inclusive?
At PEL Centre, we are committed to creating a progressive, inclusive environment where every child, family, and staff member is respected and valued. We believe that an inclusive, diverse community is essential for fostering a positive and enriching learning experience.
Our progressive approach means that we actively support children who require additional assistance, ensuring they are fully integrated into the program. We tailor our support to meet each child’s unique needs, promoting an environment where every child can thrive, regardless of their background or abilities.
We take pride in maintaining an open and welcoming space where enrolment is never influenced by race, gender, religion, marital status, national origin, political beliefs, or abilities. At PEL Centre, inclusiveness is not just a policy—it’s a core part of our philosophy, woven into every aspect of our care. Our centre celebrates multiculturalism, diverse perspectives, and the richness that each individual brings to our community.
Are all staff certified in child care?
At the PEL Centre, we follow all staffing requirements set by the Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations. All team members hold valid certification as Level 1, 2, or 3 Early Childhood Educators, along with current First Aid/CPR and completed police checks, including the vulnerable sector screening.
Our passionate and professional team is dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can thrive every day.
Do children spend time outdoors?
At the PEL Centre, we believe outdoor play is a vital part of each child’s day. Weather permitting, we spend as much time outside as possible—and in the warmer months, we often enjoy snacks, lunch, crafts, and activities outdoors to fully embrace the season.
We are proud to have a private playground that exceeds licensing expectations in terms of size, providing a safe, spacious, and engaging environment where children can explore, play, and thrive.
